Turnip or rutabaga?

Turnip or rutabaga? Can you tell them apart? Since they are very similar, these root vegetables are often confused with each other.

So before we start cooking these wonderful, nutritious, and versatile vegetables, let’s clear up the confusion around them.

If we want to be specific, what is usually called a “turnip” in Quebec is actually a rutabaga. Its cousin, the “real” turnip, is also known as the “white turnip”. The main difference between the two is the color of their flesh—turnips have white flesh, while rutabagas have yellow flesh. In addition, rutabagas are generally larger than turnips.

Simple isn’t it?
